Billy¦Ûz: Billy Gilman grows up¡@¤p¤ñ§Qªø¤j¤F ! 2004 / 5 / 06 ¨Ó·½
His voice has changed and he's grown nearly a foot; now
he's making plans for a new album and a new car
It's not that he's ashamed that he leaped to fame as
''Little Billy,'' the 4-foot-7, hit-making prodigy. But he's five years
older and 11 inches taller, and most important, his voice has changed
since the One Voice days.
Gilman's last project was Music Through Heartsongs,
based on and inspired by the best-selling poetry of 13-year-old Mattie J.T.
Stepanek, the Muscular Dystrophy Association's national goodwill
ambassador. The singer and the young poet have become friends, and that
has led to Gilman's turn as youth chairman for MDA.
''Mattie is doing considerably well, considering,''
Gilman says of his buddy who suffers from mitochondrial myopathy, a rare
genetic neuromuscular disease. ''When I hear his poems, I am
overwhelmed.''
Gilman says his role with MDA. He came to Nashville
recently to hand out MDA awards to a youth gathering has helped him cope
with circumstances that forced him into semi-retirement almost 2 years
ago.
''I'm humbled,'' he says of his contact with MDA
patients. ''I think I needed that. It helped me get through my trauma: my
voice changing.''
Gilman says he gained perspective. ''Heck, it's a voice
change. It's gonna smooth out again. It's gonna get better soon. Think
about these people who aren't getting better.''
Gilman has performed a bit but has pretty much rested
and recharged since he sensed ''natural happenings'' were changing his
life.''The first time I really started to hear (a voice) change, I was on
my Christmas tour at the end of 2001. I was pushing harder to get the
notes out that earlier in the year were easier.
''I said, 'Ooo, I wonder if this is what the people
were saying was going to happen? '' he recalls.
''It was tough,'' Gilman says. ''When you go from 90
concerts a year to nothing at all . . . I would rather be out there
singing.'' Now that the voice ''has been settled for a couple of months,''
he's planning a new album and looking toward more performing. No longer
with Sony, he says there are major labels and an independent expressing
interest.
He also looks at the
opposite sex. ''I do have feminine friends, don't get me wrong,'' he says,
explaining he has no girlfriend right now. ¥L¤]¶}©lª`·N²§©Ê¡C¡§§Ú¬O¦³¤@¨Ç¤k«Ä¤lªB¤Í¡A¦ý¬O§O»~¸Ñ¡A¡¨¥L»¡¡A¸ÑÄÀµÛ¥L²{¦bÁÙ¨S¦³¤kªB¤Í¡C¡§·í§Ú®³¨ì¨®ªº®ÉÔ¡A·|«Ü§Öªº¡A½Öª¾¹D°Ú¡H¡¨Gilman»¡¥L±N·|¥H¡§¤@¥óµ¹¦Û¤vªº¥Í¤é§ª«¡¨ªº§Î¦¡®³¨ì³o½ø¨®¡C·í¥L¦b5¤ë24¸¹16·³ªº®ÉÔ¡A¥L¦bºô¤WÁʪ«®É§ä¨ì¦Û¤v·Qnªº¡GChrysler Crossfire¡Aª÷ÄݦǦâ¡A¦³µÛ¬õ»P¶Âªº¤º´ß©M¬õ¦âªº´Án¾¹ªº¨®¡C°_½æ»ù¬°$34¡A495¡A¾Úcrossfireªººô¯¸¤WÁ¿¡C¡§¥¦¯uªº«Ü»Å¡C¡¨ GILMAN WAITING ON "ONE VOICE" µ¥«ÝÁnµªº¤p¤ñ§Q From Country Weekly 2/05/2004 Singer Billy Gilman, who scored a multi-platinum hit five years ago--when he was just 10 years old--with his album "One Voice," has spent the last two years waiting out his voice change.´¿¸g¦b¤¦~«e , ¥H¤Q·³ªº¦~¬ö©M¥Lªº±M¿èOne Voice¹F¨ì¦h¥Õª÷¾P¶qªººq¤â¤p¤ñ§Q , ¹L¥hªá¤F¨â¦~ªº®É¶¡µ¥«Ý¥LªºÅÜÁn¡C There's a simple explanation for teen singer Billy Gilman's absence from the spotlight. Billy's been on hiatus because, like other 15-year-old boys, he's waiting for his voice to change.¹ï©ó¤Ö¦~ºq¤â¤p¤ñ§Q³Ìªñ®ø¥¢¦b»E¥ú¿O«e , ³o¸Ì¦³Ó²³æªº»¡©ú¡C¤p¤ñ§Qªñ¤é¶¡Â_¥Lªººq°Û¨Æ·~ , ¦]¬°¥L¤]¹³¨ä¥L¤Q¤·³ªº¨k«Ä¤@¼Ë , µ¥«ÝµÛ¥LªºÁnµ§ïÅÜ¡C "It was very frustrating to go through this process," Gilman, now 15 years old, said in a statement.
